Working Days Calculator

Planning a project timeline, a notice period, or leave? This calculator counts the working days between two dates — both endpoints included — skipping Saturdays and Sundays automatically and subtracting any public holidays you enter. It's the fast way to turn a calendar span into actual workdays.

Enter how many public holidays fall on weekdays in the range.

How it works

The calculator walks every calendar date from start to end (inclusive), keeps the weekdays, then subtracts your holidays:

Working days = (inclusive days − weekend days) − holidays

Weekends are Saturday and Sunday by default. If you enter the dates in reverse order, they're swapped automatically — the count is the same.

Worked example

From Mon 5 Oct 2026 to Fri 9 Oct 2026, weekends excluded, no holidays:

  • Inclusive days = 5 (Mon–Fri)
  • Weekend days = 0
  • Working days = 5 − 0 − 0 = 5

Understanding your results

Working days is the count of weekdays in your range minus the holidays you entered. Use it for project estimates, SLA timelines and leave balances.

One honest limitation: the calculator doesn't know your country's holiday calendar — it can't, since holidays vary by country, state and religion. Count the public holidays that fall on weekdays in your range and enter that number yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — both endpoints count if they're working days. A Monday-to-Friday range gives 5 working days, which matches how most people count a work week.
